EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN UPDATE

COVID-19 has increased the urgency of freeing all those detained, now. ICE has finally admitted that we are in the midst of a serious public health emergency, yet thousands of lives are in danger in detention centers across the country, where access to medical care and sanitary facilities is severely limited, and even hand sanitizer is confiscated as contraband. There is increased risk of a lockdown that would prevent anyone from getting free. We must do everything we can to free as many of our neighbors as possible NOW while we continue to demand that they #freethemALL, and we mean ALL.

Let My People Go.

Because Never Again is Now.

There are hundreds of concentration camps in our own backyards—10 in the New York area—where thousands of children, parents, siblings, and friends are caged for their immigration status alone.

As Jews, we cannot stand by and watch. Never again is NOW.

That’s why Jews and our allies are raising money to secure the freedom of as many of our immigrant neighbors as possible, NOW.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a light on the ongoing emergency of incarceration: human beings locked up in unsafe, unhygienic conditions with no autonomy over their own wellbeing.

While we prepare to celebrate Passover and recall our journey from slavery to freedom, we must do everything we can to free our neighbors from these conditions NOW.

Because no one is free until everyone is free.

Working together, we can secure the freedom of our neighbors who remain caged in unsafe, inhumane conditions simply because they cannot afford to pay ICE’s demand for ransom—immigration bond—which can be as high as $25,000, or more.

Please support the Let My People Go campaign today with a donation to our partners at the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund/New York Immigrant Freedom Fund. Your support now means we can free as many people as possible, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Thank you for joining us.

Donations may also be made by check, payable to the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, Inc. Please indicate that you would like your donation to go to this effort by writing “NYIFF” in the memo line. Checks should be mailed to:

Join the call for ICE to close the camps so no immigrant will ever have to be subjected to unsafe, inhumane conditions in this country again.

As we work to free as many of our immigrant neighbors as possible, we know that paying bond is not enough. 52,000 people across the country are languishing in immigration detention while they face deportation proceedings. That’s why we will continue to show up and demand that ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection close the camps, once and for all.

The New York Immigrant Freedom Fund, a program of the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, has freed over 400 immigrants from detention and is working to abolish a fundamentally unjust immigration detention system. Together, we will prevent history from repeating itself and work to build a just and equitable future for all.
